AIUB SDG Activity Report 2022 |SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) is actively contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy through impactful university activities and pioneering faculty research. The commitment to clean energy is evident in initiatives that disseminate knowledge and provide practical exposure.

The "Webinar On Solar PV Energy Towards Carbon Neutrality By 2050" showcases AIUB's dedication to educating its community on solar energy, a crucial element in the clean energy landscape. Practical exposure is facilitated through events like the "Visit to Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant" and the "Faculty of Engineering's Industrial Tour to Rampura 230/132KV Substation," enriching students' education and inspiring their contributions to the clean energy transition.

The "DR. ANWARUL ABEDIN LECTURE SERIES" emphasizes AIUB's commitment to deepening understanding of power systems, essential for addressing the complexities of energy infrastructure.

AIUB's faculty is at the forefront of research contributing to clean energy solutions. Research papers on "Thermo-fluid Physiognomies of a Photovoltaic Thermal Collector" and "Forecasting Photovoltaic Power Generation with a Stacking Ensemble Model" advance the scientific understanding of renewable energy technologies, with practical implications for their development and implementation.

Furthermore, faculty engagement in diverse aspects of clean energy, from optimizing solar cells to designing microgrids, exemplified by "Optimized Performance and Economic Assessment for Hybrid Island Microgrid System Considering Uncertainties," demonstrates AIUB's dedication to sustainable and economically viable energy solutions. AIUB emerges as a key player in advancing clean and affordable energy through education, practical exposure, and cutting-edge research.

AIUB's Commitment to Race to Zero: A Step Towards Environmental Sustainability

American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) has taken a significant stride towards combating climate change by committing to the Race to Zero commitment. This initiative showcases AIUB's dedication to environmental sustainability and its proactive approach in addressing global challenges.

Race to Zero Commitment

https://www.educationracetozero.org/current-signatories

Race to Zero is a global campaign rallying non-state actors – including companies, cities, regions, financial, educational, and healthcare institutions – to take rigorous and immediate action to halve global emissions by 2030 and deliver a healthier, fairer, net zero world. Since June 2020, over 13,000 members have joined the campaign and are committed to the same overarching goal: reducing emissions across all scopes swiftly and fairly in line with the Paris Agreement, with transparent action plans and robust near-term targets. Members of Race to Zero automatically join countries in the Climate Ambition Alliance, and their participation is registered on the Global Climate Action portal.

AIUB's initiative to commit to the Race to Zero underscores its commitment to environmental stewardship. The university recognizes its role in mitigating climate change and acknowledges the importance of taking decisive action to reduce carbon emissions. By making this pledge, AIUB demonstrates its leadership in promoting sustainability within the academic community and beyond.
