At the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), quality is a sustained institutional commitment embedded in academic curriculum, administration, governance, and global engagement. AIUB’s formal quality journey began in 2007 with the establishment of the AIUB Quality Assurance Center (AQAC), through which the University proactively engaged with local and international bodies such as APQN, PAASCU, UNESCO and others. In alignment with UGC-HEQEP guidelines, AQAC was restructured into the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in 2015, strengthening internal quality systems.
With strong support from university management through IQAC-AIUB became the first University in Bangladesh to achieve full International Accreditation by PAASCU for its Academic Programs, starting with MBA & EMBA in 2011, BBA in 2013, CSE in 2014 followed by EEE as Candidate Status. The EEE program is accredited by BAETE-IEB while CSE is undergoing reaccreditation, the Architecture program by IAB. In 2014, for the Administrative Operations, AIUB achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification by SGS-UKAS These pioneering efforts earned AIUB APQN’s Best/Model Internal Quality Assurance Award in 2016 and 2024. AIUB-IQAC further strengthened its global engagement by hosting first time in Bangladesh, the APQN Academic Conference 2023 and MCO International Symposium on Responsive and Responsible Universities. AIUB is an active member of major global quality networks, including CHEA-CIQG, INQAAHE, AASHE, and APQN, and an Associate Member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education. The Faculty of Business Administration is an Educational Member of AACSB and ACBSP, and an Institutional Member of AMDISA.
AIUB continues to receive strong global recognition, becoming the first university in Bangladesh to earn a QS Stars 4-Star Rating. AIUB is ranked in QS World University Ranking, QS Asia, QS Sustainability, THE Impact Ranking, THE World University Rankings WURI and SCIMAGO Rankings. AIUB-IQAC also plays a strategic role in advancing sustainability, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), internationalization, and innovation across the University. AIUB is a Signatory to the Magna Charta Universitatum and the SDG Accord, AIUB is a Satellite HEI of IAU-HESD, a participant in the Race to Zero Universities and Colleges (UNFCCC), a partner of Responsible Futures (SOS-UK), and an Institutional Partner of WePOWER, reflecting its strong commitment to global responsibility, sustainability, and inclusion. AIUB won the “Best Sustainable Initiative – University” award at the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2025. IQAC-AIUB has rendered service and expertise through training, workshop, knowledge sharing session, visit in IQAC by imparting the experience gathered from the long journey on QA in Bangladesh and abroad.
AIUB became part of national history by becoming the first university in Bangladesh to submit the Self-Assessment Report to the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) and successfully completed first BAC Accreditation EQA visit for EEE Program in January 2025. The AIUB Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) participates in national and international projects, conducts research, and produces scholarly publications including journal articles, book chapters, case studies, and periodicals. IQAC has undertaken research collaborations with IIEP–UNESCO on internal quality assurance, engaged with the British Council on education-focused initiatives, and completed institutional self-assessment under the ISAS–IAU–UNESCO Services. Through IQAC, AIUB continues to advance a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, sustainability and global responsibility. Guided by local & international standards and priorities, the University remains committed to producing competent, ethical, and globally responsible graduates prepared to contribute meaningfully to society.
