Bioinformatics Laboratory

 

The Bioinformatics Laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (Faculty of Health & Life Sciences) supports academic instruction, computational research, and practical training in genomics, proteomics, molecular biology, biotechnology, and drug discovery. The facility features high-performance workstations, secure data storage, high-speed internet, and industry-standard bioinformatics software. Key capabilities include sequence analysis, molecular docking, protein-ligand interaction modeling, genome annotation, phylogenetics, and biological data visualization.

Current project support includes:

  • β-Glucogallin & COX-2 Interaction Analysis: Structure retrieval/preparation, molecular docking, binding-affinity prediction, and interaction visualization.
  • Genomic Characterization of Avicennia officinalis Endophytic Fungus: Sequence quality control, BLAST searches, multiple sequence alignment, phylogenetic tree construction, genome assembly, annotation, and functional characterization.
