Webinar on “AIUBIANS on ERASMUS”

On Sunday, November 19, 2023, the IEEE AIUB Student Branch successfully organized a webinar titled “AIUBians on Erasmus.” The webinar aimed to provide an informative session for individuals passionate about availing themselves of the ERASMUS MUNDUS scholarship. The speakers were AIUB alumni who had successfully received this prestigious scholarship. They covered the fundamentals and offered helpful guidance on various Erasmus programs.

Dr. Shameem Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, Department of EEE, AIUB; Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, conducted the inaugural session and then welcomed the speakers. Mr.  Mashrur Sakib Choyon, Engineer and Production Manager at Zimmer & Peacock, conducted the first segment of the session. He provided insights into the programs, universities, and the countries providing the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree (EMJMD) scholarship. He also talked about the requirements and the application procedure, emphasizing the importance of strong reference and motivation letters.

The following segment was conducted by Ms. Tulsi Chowdhury, Technical Project Leader at Robert BOSCH GmbH. She discussed her involvement in the Smart System Integrated Solutions (SSIs) program, explaining the program's structure spanning four semesters across three universities. She also highlighted the program's benefits and future opportunities.

The next session was conducted by Ms. Jannatul Mawa Akanto, who spoke about the EMJMD in Smart Cities and Communities (SMACCs). Providing a brief overview of the essential pathways for applicants, she briefed about the SMACCs program and the universities offering it, concluding with insights from her personal experience. Following that, Mr. MD Kamrul Islam shared his experience of the Renewable Energy in the Marine Environment (REM+) program, and Mr. Dewan Mahnaaz Mahmud spoke about the European master’s in dynamics of Renewables-based Power Systems (DREAM), providing the attendees with a concise overview of the program. Afterward, the session was conducted by Mr. Mohammad Jaber Hossain, discussing the details regarding the master’s Program in Security and Cloud Computing (SECCLO). Mr. Mohammad Eyasin Rahman then talked about the European Master in Embedded Computing Systems (EMECS) program and shared his experiences. The Erasmus Mundus master’s in biomedical engineering (EMMBIOME) program was discussed by Mr. Osim Kumar Paul. In the concluding session, Mr. Mohammad Mukit, PhD Researcher at Eindhoven University of Technology, gave an overview of the Photonic Integrated Circuits, Sensors, and Networks (PIXNET) program. He also discussed the Photonics for Security, Reliability, and Safety (PSRS) and RADMEP programs. Following the comprehensive presentations, a dynamic Q&A session allowed attendees to delve deeper into the topics.

Dr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Director of the Faculty of Engineering at AIUB and Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, expressed gratitude to the speakers. He emphasized the importance of higher education and its transformative impact on personal and professional growth. He then presented a token of appreciation to the speakers and concluded the session. The webinar showcased the significance and benefits of ERASMUS programs, serving as a platform for concise educational information aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education).
