Department of Architecture, American International University-Bangladesh organized a lecture event where prominent architect Rafiq Azam delivered a lecture on ‘Architecture for Green Living’ followed by book handover event on July 26, 2018, at AIUB multipurpose hall. The event was sponsored by Shah Cement. Architecture is not only designing buildings. It is also about designing a built environment. An architect is always liable to his community for designing a livable built environment. In Dhaka city, it is always a critical issue. Considering the critical issues, Architect Rafiq Azam is trying to design several parks in Dhaka city and hoping to build a better community by redesigning them. And thus he is trying to give back a community once we had. His entire endeavor is to give back six seasons, chattering of birds, sounds of falling leaves during winter which we have forgotten- which our new generation hardly experiences here in Dhaka city. In the event, Honorable Vice President and Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, was present as chief guest. Dr. A B M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, M Arefeen Ibrahim, Head, Dept. of Architecture, Mr. Hamiduzzaman, Sculptor, Mr. Ibrahim Khalil, Sr. Brand Manager, Shah Cement and the Faculty members of Architecture dept. were present in the ceremony. The joyful presence of architects, academicians, and students from different universities made the event more successful. And the event was only possible because of the spontaneous hard work of student volunteers and respective teachers (Irfat Alam, Assistant Professor, Tabassum Zarin, Assistant Professor, Tanvir Hasan, Lecturer) along with the support provided by AIUB administration and sponsor Shah Cement.
