International Students Exchange Program at Adamas University, Kolkata, India

Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Department of Media and Mass Communication (MMC) of American International University- Bangladesh (AIUB), and the School of Media and Communication of Adamas University, Kolkata, A delegation of 10 students from AIUB visited Adamas University, Kolkata, India for an "International Students Exchange Program".

Kolkata and Santiniketan, India - An unforgettable international student exchange program unfolded as a life-changing experience for a group of students, seven from Media and Mass Communication (MMC) and each from English, Law, and Economics department as they embarked on a cultural journey to Adamas University. This remarkable voyage, which took place from September 10th to September 19th, showcased the power of friendship, cultural exchange, and personal growth.

With the guidance of Mr. Niaz Majumdar faculty of MMC, AIUB students participated and conducted many workshops on "Teaching and Learning Program" and other academic and cultural activities. They also visited Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan to see Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore's educational institutions, which UNESCO recently declared Visva Bharati University as the world's first living heritage university. An extraordinary chapter in the academic and personal lives of ten students from the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) unfolded as they embarked on an International Student Exchange Program to Adamas University. This life-changing experience was marked by cultural exchange, friendship, and exploration, leaving an indelible mark on each participant.

The adventure extended beyond Adamas University, with visits to historical sites in Kolkata. Notable stops included St. Paul's Cathedral, Victoria Memorial, Nandan (a cultural hub of Kolkata), Alipore Jail Museum, South City Mall, College Street, famous Indian Coffee House. A highlight of the trip was the visit of AIUB and ADMAS students to Santiniketan, where they visited the museum dedicated to Rabindranath Tagore's belongings and soaked in the rich artistic atmosphere of the area and at Sonibar's Sonajhurir Haat, a Weekly Haat (local bazar), scheduled for each Saturday. Where there were performances, handmade items, and ornaments in a lively environment. Some of these performances are attended by locals as well as students.  Where the group immersed themselves in cultural experiences and created cherished memories.

One of the highlights of the trip was a spectacular cultural program organized by Adamas University. It started with both the nation’s National Anthem and featuring mesmerizing plays, dances, and songs that left the AIUB students breathless. 

With the direction of Mr. Niaz Majumdar, AIUB students presented their own cultural program on September 18th. Their performances, spanning from songs, dance, recitals to documentaries and photography exhibitions, captivated the audience and showcased the rich cultural diversity of Bangladesh.

On September 19th, the students bid farewell to Adamas University, embarking on their journey back home. The trip, though concluded, left a lasting impact on their lives, enriching their cultural awareness, fostering friendships, and preparing them for the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

The International Student Exchange Program at Adamas University was a transformative journey that expanded horizons, fostered cross-cultural understanding, and forged lasting friendships. It not only enriched the participants' academic and personal lives but also prepared them to face the challenges of a rapidly changing world with confidence and resilience. This program stands as a testament to the importance of embracing diversity and learning from different cultures, leaving behind cherished memories and newfound confidence in navigating the global landscape.
