The Faculty of Engineering (FE) , American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) held an event titled “Inauguration Ceremony of Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) AIUB Student Chapter” on October 3, 2023. The event was marked by distinguished speakers and the declaration of the steering committee and also sought to align with the Sustainable Development Goals, Particularly Quality Education (SDG 4) and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9)

The inaugural ceremony commenced with a welcoming address by Mr. Manzur H. Khan, Proctor, AIUB. He emphasized how various student clubs provide invaluable opportunities for leadership development. A highlight of the event was the presence of Dr. Simon Peter Nadeem, a renowned lecturer from the University of Derby. Dr. Nadeem delivered an insightful speech about the importance and significance of the IEOM organization. The event saw the participation of distinguished figures from faculty members of AIUB, including Prof. Dr. A B M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering. Both shared their thoughts and encouragement with the attendees. Dr. Md. Ehasanul Haque, Head, Department of Industrial and Production Engineering, AIUB and other faculties were present in the event. Dr. Ahad Ali, Executive Director, IEOM Society International joined the event virtually and provided his valuable remarks. Mr. Md Aqib Islam Chowdhury, Director of IEOM Bangladesh, was also present, further solidifying the IEOM's support and presence in Bangladesh.

The ceremony's culmination was marked by Dr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Director, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, who delivered the closing speech. Dr. Zishan declared the steering committee of the IEOM AIUB Student Chapter and introduced the members of the club committee, including its executives and top post holders.

The Inauguration Ceremony of IEOM AIUB Student Chapter not only marked the official inception of this esteemed organization but also highlighted the profound connection between the field of Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE) and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
