CALL for Participation

Dear Students, AIUB CS FEST 2015 will be held from 22 November, 2015 to 25 November, 2015. There are lots of events where you can participate and show your talent. The events are open for all current AIUB students from all departments. The events lists, details, rules & regulations, time & venues are listed below as well as the points of contact for your greater convenience.

3. ESSAY WRITING CONTEST (Open for ALL)

Rules & Regulations:

  1. Each participant will be participating in this event individually, no Team contest.
  2. Topic: Prospects of an international treaty on cyberwarfare
  3. Essay should be written in English and should be between 800 and 1,200 words and double-spaced.
  4. Essay should be driven by a clear purpose and by a sense of audience.
  5. Submission in the following format is accepted: Word (.doc, .docx, .rtf).
  6. Please submit a cover page that includes your name, email address, phone number, and
  7. Please submit no more than one essay.
  8. Do not identify yourself on your entry. Enclose a cover sheet with your name, address, telephone number, the title(s) of your piece(s) and word count; submissions will be read blind.
  9. Submit your essay to csfest.essay@gmail.com
  10. Deadline for all contest entries: November 17, 2015.
  11. Each piece must be original, unpublished, not submitted elsewhere for publication or broadcast, nor accepted elsewhere for publication or broadcast, nor entered simultaneously/before in any other contest or competition.

5. POSTER/ CONCEPT PRESENTATION (Open for ALL)

Areas of Interest:

  1. Any published or yet to be published scientific paper directly related to Computer Science.
  2. Any ideas on any field of computer science that are not yet put into writings.
  3. Humorous concepts portraying any event of AIUB but which must not defame any Faculty/Staff of AIUB.
  4. Any sprouting social issues without bias to any political/religious views that can be solved using any method of Computer Science.

Rules & Regulations:

  1. Each poster must contain a title of the poster, name of group members, university name and logo.
  2. Maximum of 2 members in a group.
  3. All contents of the poster should be original. Content that is copyright to someone else should not be in your poster.
  4. Poster’s design and content should strongly represent the information that the designers want to convey to the viewers.

5.Any content of the poster should not negatively criticize any social issue or any person.

12. TECH BUSINESS IDEA CONTEST (CS/CIS/MIS/CSE/BBA/MBA)

Rules & Regulations:

  1. Each participant will be participating in this event individually, or as a group (Max 2 members).
  2. Students need to write or come up with a business Idea.
  3. Upon the approval of that Idea, students have to make a poster and present it.
  4. Poster Size: Standard sized art papers, Size: 22 inch by 28 inch, Weights: 128 gm.

13. ROBOTICS CONTEST (EEE/COE/CS/CSE/CIS/CSSE)

Rules & Regulations:

  1. Each participant will be participating in this event individually, or as a group (Max 2 members).
  2. The event will run for a limited time (10 am to 5 pm)
  3. Within this time students need to make their own functional robot.
  4. Students must bring all the necessary equipment, parts for building their robot
  5. Any robot is accepted, there is no fixed category

  3. Contest Syllabus: Set theory, permutation, combination, plane geometry, Calculus (extrema, area, volume, plane and straight line and rotation of axes) and their applications, geometry.
