Celebrating 10 years of Architecture at AIUB

Brief:

The Department of Architecture AIUB is organizing “AIUB ARCHITECTURE WEEK 2016" during 4 - 7 January. Celebration on Completion of 10 years”. We are planning to arrange a four-day eventful program which includes Student Design Competition, Lectures & Workshops by local and international experts, Student work exhibition, Publications, Cultural program, Grand Dinner etc. Our events will be for architecture student, architects and related professionals of the country.

Inspired by AIUB’s mission and vision and understanding global need of architectural education, the Architecture department began its expedition in 2005. Architecture program is one of the only 7 IAB-accredited programs among more than 25 architecture schools in Bangladesh.

Francis D. K. Ching’s ("Frank Ching") books have been widely influential and continue to shape the visual language of all fields of Design. He is a widely recognized Author of bestselling books addressing Architectural and Design Graphics. His works have been translated into over eighteen languages and are regarded as classics for their renowned graphic presentation. He is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Washington.

International Architecture Student Design Competition

Architecture Department at American International University- Bangladesh (AIUB) is pleased to host an Architecture Student Design Competition in association with Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) for young Architecture students envisioning Bangladesh Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai UAE.

Moving entourage in architectural animation by Professor Dr. Saleh Uddin

This workshop deals with the integration of live green screen video footage of moving people and entourage over a digital synthetic animation, where the environment is yet to be built or found.

Drawing Dhaka with Francis D. K. Ching

After a brief introduction to freehand drawing from observation, participants will spend the rest of the workshop actually drawing while Professor Francis D. K. Ching visits with each participant to offer tips and demonstrations about improving his/her observational and drawing skills.

Exhibition of student works: Reflection of 10 years

Student project exhibition on the eve of 10 year’s celebration is the reflection of last 10 year’s effort from Department of Architecture at AIUB. The event holds the display of both 10 year’s works and current studio projects.

Architecture AIUB will be hosting a Lecture Series by inviting three notable speakers from diversified field of Architecture for the students and professionals.

A Celebrating Ceremony is going to be arranged to cherish the journey with the students and professionals at the premise of IAB centre on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. The event will become more memorable with the gracious presence of Francis D. K. Ching.

Faculties of Architecture Department AIUB along with Francis D. K. Ching will visit the National Assembly Building, Bangladesh which is one of the Architectural master pieces in the world.

The alumni and current students of Department of Architecture, AIUB and Faculties will participate in a friendly cricket match on the eve of 10 years celebration.
