AIUB Oratory Club (AOC) of American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) successfully organized one of the country’s most prestigious national debating tournaments, “AOC Nationals 2025.” The three-day-long event took place from October 24 to 26, 2025 at the AIUB campus.
The competition was inaugurated by Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin, Founder Member, Board of Trustees, AIUB, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Member of Board of Trustee of AIUB, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor, and along with Prof. Dr. Manzur H. Khan, Proctor, AIUB and Dr. Humayra Ferdous, Mentor, AOC. Distinguished faculty members and officials from Office of Student Affairs (OSA) were also present at the ceremony.
On the opening day, the campus came alive as top debaters from 36 renowned universities across the country engaged in 4 tab rounds, concluding with the quarterfinals. The second day featured the Inter-College category, where talented students from 24 colleges showcased their analytical skills to secure spots in the knockout rounds.
The Final and Closing Ceremony, held on October 26, was graced by Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor of AIUB. Representatives from the event’s sponsors — Compass Education and DBC News — were also in attendance. Throughout the competition, an expert panel of adjudicators conducted the judging process with utmost professionalism. In the Inter-University Final, Chittagong University Debating Society (CUDS) emerged as the Champion, while Bangladesh University of Professionals Debating Club (BUPDC) finished as the Runners-up. In the Inter-College category, Dhaka Residential Model College claimed the championship title, and Government Science College secured the runners-up position.
The AOC Nationals 2025 received widespread appreciation for its seamless organization, hospitality, and competitive spirit. The event not only strengthened AIUB’s footprint in the national debating circuit but also amplified the morale and enthusiasm of AIUB Oratory Club members. Encouraged by the event’s success, the club aspires to continue hosting such impactful initiatives that promote leadership and articulate expression among the youth of Bangladesh.
