The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) proudly recognizes Tasnim Hasan Adib, a member of AIUB Astronomy and Space Science Club and a student of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), for receiving a prestigious Special Mention award at the 9th BUP International Model United Nations Conference (BUPIMUN) 2026. Organized by the BUP Global Affairs Council, the conference provided a platform for students to engage in international affairs, diplomacy, policy discussions, and investigative journalism. Adib’s achievement reflects his dedication to academic excellence, critical thinking, and active representation of AIUB on a national platform.

Serving as the Correspondent for the United Nations News Agency (UNNA) committee, Adib demonstrated a strong commitment to investigative journalism through high-impact, aggressive, and non-generalized reporting. His work involved challenging delegates and institutional leaders by drawing upon international law, United Nations mandates, and real-time legislative updates. Operating across major global and domestic simulation bodies, including the World Economic Forum (WEF), the World Trade Organization (WTO), the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the domestic Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division (LPAD), he conducted committee floor audits, examined policy contradictions, and prepared rapid-response interview scripts and investigative reports. His contributions addressed the conference theme, “The Rise of Economic Nationalism in a Shifting Liberal International Order,” which explored the evolving relationship between national economic priorities and the liberal international system.

The Special Mention award highlights Adib’s contribution to the conference through investigative reporting, critical inquiry, and engagement with complex policy issues. His work demonstrated the importance of evidence-based journalism in examining institutional decisions and encouraging accountability. Through his responsibilities as a correspondent, he engaged with diverse perspectives and explored issues that required careful research, analytical thinking, and a clear understanding of international and domestic affairs.

The achievement reflects the value of interdisciplinary learning and student participation in activities beyond the classroom. Model United Nations conferences provide opportunities for students to strengthen their research, communication, analytical, and leadership skills while exploring contemporary global challenges. Adib’s performance illustrates how students from different academic backgrounds can contribute to meaningful discussions on international affairs through investigative journalism and critical examination of policies and institutions.
