AIUB Oratory Club Hosts “Effective Communication” Masterclass to Equip Speakers with Interaction and Connection Skills
The AIUB Oratory Club (AOC) successfully organized an executive masterclass titled “Effective Communication: Speak, Listen, Connect,” focusing on the fundamental principles of human interaction and practical strategies for meaningful communication.
The masterclass explored the dynamics of verbal and non-verbal communication, highlighting how individuals can establish clear, purposeful connections in professional and everyday settings. Moving beyond conventional public speaking techniques, the session examined the psychological and physical aspects of effective messaging, emphasizing the importance of understanding an audience alongside delivering a message.
The session followed a structured approach to the essential pillars of communication, with particular emphasis on active listening, confident expression, and audience engagement. Participants explored practical methods for articulating ideas clearly, navigating different conversational contexts, and bridging communication gaps in professional and interpersonal interactions.
Beyond verbal expression, the masterclass highlighted the significance of non-verbal cues in shaping communication. Key areas of discussion included content structuring, vocal clarity, posture, hand gestures, and body language alignment. The session was conducted by Dr. Humayra Ferdous, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Physics at AIUB, whose academic expertise and experience as a club mentor brought a structured and analytical perspective to the discussion.
The successful execution of the masterclass was made possible through the collective efforts of the AOC Executive Committee, whose planning and coordination ensured a well-organized and engaging learning environment.
The session evolved into an interactive learning experience, with a packed room of club members actively participating in discussions, demonstrations, and practical exercises. Through these activities, participants had the opportunity to apply communication techniques in real time while learning to remain composed, organized, and articulate across different conversational scenarios.
The masterclass concluded with a recap of the key learning outcomes and a formal acknowledgment of the speaker for sharing valuable time, knowledge, and guidance. The session marked another step in the AIUB Oratory Club’s ongoing commitment to developing confident, thoughtful, and effective communicators.
Through initiatives such as this masterclass, the AIUB Oratory Club continues to promote communication more than the ability to speak well. By emphasizing intentional listening, physical composure, and structured expression, AOC aims to equip its members with the skills necessary to build meaningful connections and communicate with greater purpose.
Speak. Listen. Connect.
