The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) at American International University-Bangladesh held a collaborative meeting with DW Akademie, Germany, on 15 April 2026 at its campus in Dhaka.
The meeting was presided over by the Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB, Professor Dr. Abdur Rahman. It was attended by the Head of JMC, Professor Dr. Pradip Kumar Panday, along with faculty members of the department and other university officials. Representatives from DW Akademie, including Priya Esselborn and Jahanara Amir Jimi, were also present.
The discussion focused on strengthening academic collaboration between the two institutions. Key areas included curriculum development, faculty and student training on contemporary journalism issues, and organizing the CJEN conference at AIUB in the future. Both sides also explored opportunities to enhance academia–industry linkages, facilitate student internships, and establish partnerships with German universities offering journalism programs.
The meeting further emphasized the development of long-term strategic collaboration, including joint academic events and the introduction of short courses on Artificial Intelligence (AI) policies and Media and Information Literacy (MIL).
The Pro-Vice Chancellor assured full institutional support to advance these initiatives. DW Akademie also expressed strong interest in expanding collaboration with AIUB in the near future.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to building a sustainable and impactful academic partnership.
