On October 17, 2019 a Workshop on “Video Editing for Beginners” was organized by AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES) in collaboration with Department of Media and Mass Communication at MAC Lab, Annex 2, 2^nd floor, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). It was an informative event which took place from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Mohammad Foysal Chowdhury (Assistant Professor, Department of Media and Mass Communication, AIUB) with a total of 22 participants.

The event was initiated with a brief description of how the skill of video editing will be useful for the career. Afterwards, Mr. Mohammad Foysal Chowdhury started the workshop with an introduction about video editing, and brief overview of the full workshop. The workshop was divided into 3 segments where each segment’s goal was to complete the designated task. He discussed the rules and gave every participant a handout with important instructions and shortcuts. Then, he talked about shots, footage, scene and their relationship. Furthermore, he gave a brief description on continuity editing, filming and about Final Cut Pro (software) that was used in the workshop. The participants then launched the software in their respective workstations, following the instructions of the instructor. They were very interactive with the instructor and the instructor also helped them with all their queries throughout. The session was concluded with the participants sharing their experience of the workshop and what they learned.

Professor Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain  (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) gave the closing speech and shared some valuable words on how developing skills is important for the career and how the skill of video editing could help students represent their work in a presentable manner. Later on, he thanked the instructor and the participants for their presence in the workshop. Finally, he provided all the participants with a certificate as a recognition of successful completion of the workshop. After the distribution of the certificates, Professor Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) provided Mr. Mohammad Foysal Chowdhury (Assistant Professor, Department of Media and Mass Communication, AIUB) a token of appreciation for conducting this enriching workshop.
