Last Novermber 7, 2019, 29 college students from various schools namely: Green Herald, St. Gregory, St. Joseph and Holy Cross attended a half-day introductory workshop on the Basics of Adobe Photoshop held at the AIUB’s Mac laboratory. The event was organized through the initiative of the Department of Mass and Media Communications of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
The program commenced after an opening statement of MMC’s Associate Professor MD Foysal Chowdhury and adviser Dr. Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan who talked about the relevance of an ICT skill such as Photoshop, which is a staple image editing industry software.
The next 4 hours were spent walking the students through the rudiments of Photoshop starting with the interface and primary tools of digital art creation. Photo-manipulation, layout and the application of special effects handled by MMC Lecturer Nelson Udaundo. Ms Rani Ramos followed suit with an exercise in Photo editing and a further run through the various tools of image enhancements.
The workshop’s training methodology was done in a modular fashion involving lectures, demonstrations and a station to station guidance of the participants as they enthusiastically went through the various training tasks, hands on with one -to-one station to trainee set up. Thanks to the dutiful assistance of students volunteers Tasfiq Zaman, Imran Hossain, Lucifar Farabi and Karobi Kaiser.
Free-lunch was provided to all the participants through the courtesy of the Office of Student affairs. The workshop concluded with the awarding of certificates to the participants by our respected Dean of FASS Dr. Tazul Islam but not without hearing very inspiring words from him regarding career paths and the value of learning current technologies. The participating delegations availed of their day-long pass and were then given an exciting campus tour guided by the student assistants.
