The AIUB Research & Development Club (AIUBR&DC), in collaboration with the Department of Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), successfully organized a highly engaging workshop titled "Research Design for Business: The Anatomy of a Research Paper". The initiative was held with the support of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), AIUB.
The workshop commenced with an inspiring opening speech by Dr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Professor and Director of the Graduate Program (MBA & EMBA), FBA, who emphasized the growing significance of structural research methodology in shaping future business decisions and driving institutional innovation. The session was also graced by the presence of esteemed faculty members including Mehzabul Hoque Nahid, Assistant Professor, FBA; Nusrat Nowreen Khan, Assistant Professor, FBA; and Dr. Mohammed Kamrul Hasan, Associate Professor, FBA, whose presence added great value to the event's academic stature. The core workshop was conducted by the honorable speaker Dr. Khan M.R. Taufique (PhD, FHEA), Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Oxford Brookes Business School and Visiting Professor at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). Dr. Taufique shared valuable insights into the fundamental architecture of a research paper, navigating through complex dimensions of academic writing, structural frameworks, and quantitative/qualitative methodologies in modern business domains. During the interactive session, participants—comprising active members of the AIUBR&DC and FBA internship students—explored critical milestones such as defining research questions, drafting comprehensive review of literatures, constructing theoretical models, and selecting rigorous research designs. The speaker addressed multiple practical queries, bridging the gap between classroom concept applications and real-world global research standards.
The successful execution of this workshop reflects AIUB's continuous commitment to fostering high-impact research, practical development, and academic excellence among its students, equipping them with analytical skills essential for both corporate and scientific fields. This workshop directly contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by equipping business and internship students with practical analytical skills, structural research methodologies, and global academic standards that bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world application. It advances SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by training students to build theoretical models and select rigorous research designs, directly developing the research infrastructure and human talent needed to generate technological advancements and scientific innovation within the business domain. Finally, the event exemplifies SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the successful cross-departmental collaboration between the AIUB Research & Development Club, the Faculty of Business Administration, and the Office of Student Affairs, further strengthened by teamwork with an international guest speaker, Dr. Khan M.R. Taufique from Oxford Brookes Business School.
