Workshop on Quality Assurance and Academic Program Accreditation

WORKSHOP ON QUALITY ASSURANCE AND ACADEMIC PROGRAM ACCREDITATION

The Quality Assurance Cell of the American International University-Bangladesh organized a workshop on quality assurance and academic program with the end in view of preparing the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science and Information Technology for international accreditation. The workshop was held in the University’s Research and Development  Center in Sripur  last Friday, 11 June 2010. Department Heads, Program Coordinators and selected faculty members attended the workshop. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dean Faculty of Business Administration and overall coordinator of the accreditation program of the university was the head trainer with members of the AQAC as the other trainers. In order for the participants to have a holistic view  and understanding of quality assurance and the entire process of accreditation, the trainers discussed the QA concept, process and application of accreditation in the academic programs. The essential components of the institution self-survey which is the initial step towards accreditation were discussed by the AQAC members composed of Mr. Maksudur Rahman Sarker, Dr. ABM Rahmatullah and Mr. Bikas Barua according to their area of responsibility. The workshop was highlighted with the inspiring message of the Chief Guest, Prof. Nazrul Islam, Chairman, University Grant Commission; the Founder Chairman of  the university likewise delivered a brief but substantive message. The Honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna assisted the UGC Chairman in distributing the Certificates of  Participation to the participants. The Secretary of UGC, Md. Khaled was also present as special guest of the workshop. The concluding message by way of the vote of thanks was expressed by the Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Anwar Hossain.
