On May 8, 2025, the AIUB Robotic Crew (ARC) successfully organized a three-hour workshop titled "From Zero to Goal: Soccer-Bot Building Workshop". The event was specifically designed for students with minimal to no prior experience in robotics, aiming to introduce them to the fundamentals of soccer-bot design and development.
The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Ebad Zahir (Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), AIUB) with support from members of the ARC. A total of 36 enthusiastic participants took part in the session, which culminated in the successful design and construction of six soccer-bots.
Primarily intended for newly inducted ARC members, the workshop served as a preparatory platform for students aspiring to participate in local robotics competitions. The session began with an academic discussion highlighting the key engineering principles involved in building soccer-bots. This was followed by an engaging conversation on the importance and benefits of hands-on learning in engineering education.
Participants were then divided into smaller teams and, under the close supervision of ARC members, collaborated to design and build their own functional soccer-bots. The interactive and practical nature of the workshop provided a valuable learning experience and fostered teamwork, innovation, and technical competence among the students.
