The Department of Management Information Systems (MIS), Faculty of Business Administration (FB) at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a virtual session titled "Data Anywhere, Clients Everywhere" on Saturday, November 15, 2025. Conducted via Zoom from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the event brought together approximately 30 students from MIS and Business Analytics programs to explore how organizations leverage data to drive business decisions and competitive advantage.
The keynote speaker was an industry expert, Mr. Matthias Braun, a Strategic Digitalization and Cloud Computing specialist at Schaeffler, Nuremberg, Germany. With over two decades of experience in telecommunications, business intelligence, and artificial intelligence, Mr. Braun holds degrees in Mathematics and Physics from Hanover, Germany, and an MBA. His career spans leadership roles at Schaeffler, Trevisto AG, ANIGMA GmbH, and Alcatel-Lucent, focusing on digital transformation and enterprise data strategy.
Mr. Braun's presentation examined how modern companies become data-driven organizations by making decisions based on accessible and reliable data, using KPIs to guide performance, and continuously improving through insights. He outlined the business intelligence framework that enables companies to transform raw data into actionable insights, discussing how enterprises structure their data operations to support better decision-making across departments. Drawing on examples from Schaeffler's digitalization initiatives, he illustrated how data analytics and artificial intelligence help organizations define new business models, improve operational efficiency, enhance customer experiences, and maintain competitive advantage. The session also explored data products and marketplaces, demonstrating how companies can integrate data capabilities into their customers' value chains and create measurable business impact. Mr. Braun emphasized emerging trends in cloud computing and modern application development, noting how organizations are adopting scalable infrastructure to support global operations. He highlighted that companies need robust data governance and modern analytics platforms to effectively leverage their data assets for strategic growth. Mr. Braun also motivated the students to learn about Data Science and AI, especially because their MIS and Business Analytics backgrounds provide strategic advantages in understanding the business context. The session aligned with UNSDGs 4,8, and 9 by addressing skills development, employment opportunities in the digital economy, and technological innovation in business.
The event commenced with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Rezbin Nahar, Director of the Undergraduate Program. Also present was Prof. Dr. Mehzabul Hoque Nahid, Head of the MIS Department. Ms. Tanzeem Haque, Part-Time Faculty at the MIS Department, moderated the session. In her concluding remarks, Ms. Haque encouraged students to capitalize on emerging opportunities in data-driven business, noting that the barrier to entry has never been lower. who emphasized the relevance of data infrastructure competencies for aspiring business leaders. Prof. Dr. Nahid delivered the closing remarks for the event, emphasizing the importance of starting small, building capabilities consistently, and preparing to scale globally in an environment where clients are everywhere.
