On Saturday, February 28, 2026, the IEEE AIUB Student Branch successfully organized a webinar titled “Bring Your Ideas to 3D Reality: A Hands-on Workshop with Onshape Design Suite for 3D Printing”. The objective of this webinar was to provide attendees with the fundamentals of cloud-based CAD modeling. 

The webinar commenced by the distinguished speaker Dr. Gour Chand Mazumder, Assistant Professor, FE, AIUB & Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch. He began by discussing the fundamentals of 3D modelling, hands on design techniques and the workflow of preparing models for 3D printing. He added that 3D modeling is expected to play a key role in empowering the next generation of designers and innovators. He then dived deep into the interface of the Onshape platform, providing the participants with a comprehensive user guide to the platform and its practical applications while designing some basic shapes and features and tools. The participants were given interactive beginner friendly examples to get a basic understanding of the platform. The workshop came to an end with a Q&A session. Then everyone was called upon for a group photo. Afterwards, a virtual token of appreciation was presented to the speaker from the executives of the branch.

The event began at 11:30 AM and ended around 1:30 PM. A total of 85+ participants attended the workshop.
