| Recently “AIUB SHOMOY CLUB” went and donated blankets to the victims of the Cold Spell of the Northern District of Bangladesh.
They organized a campaign to collect money and winter clothes to distribute amongst the poor and needy of the Dinajpur district. The drive was carried out from the 16th of January to the 25th of January, 2011. During this period they succeeded in collecting Tk. 74,000/- & some winter clothes from the students and the faculty members of the University. A large portion of this money was donated by one of the shomoy club members now residing in UK. The money was then used to purchase 600 blankets from Thakurgong, Kisamoti, Keshorbari (Tat Polly) village.
“AIUB SHOMOY CLUB” member’s – Imran, Aftab, Akash, Sharif, Hisham, Murad, Raisul, Mostakim, Niloy started their journey on the 26th of January, 2011 from Dhaka and upon reaching, distributed the blankets and the collected winter clothes amongst the cold-spell hit people of Dinajpur. The social welfare activity was mainly targeted at the “Dinajpur, Shetapgonj, Dockchai village” and some distribution was also done amongst the crowd who gathered near the “Dinajpur Press Club”.
Upon completion of these activities they all returned back to Dhaka on the 29th of January, 2011.
