The Department of Economics, under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), AIUB is committed to provide quality education to students. One of the main interests of the Economics Department is to share knowledge and exchange views on global culture, economics, and financial issues among students (focusing on the undergraduates). To achieve this purpose, an initiative was taken to arrange a day-long Wall-Paper Exhibition on various socio-economic and cultural issues. The Exhibition was held on March 24, 2010 at AIUB’s Campus 7 where projects of undergraduate students taking Economic Geography courses (offered by Economics Department) were displayed.
The Theme of the exhibition was “ECONOMICS FOR THE WELFARE OF THE WORLD’’. Twenty five projects of students on the issues like Natural Disaster, Extinct Animals Species, World-famous Art and Music, Animations, World’s Architecture, famous Personalities, Global Warming and Modern Technology were selected.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the Dean of FASS Professor Dr. Tazul Islam in the presence of the Heads of the different departments like English, Economics, Accounting and Finance; Social Sciences and Director of MBA program. The exhibition was organized by the students of Economic Geography course (sections: A, B and J of Spring-2009-2010). The program was coordinated by Kazi Tanvir Mahmud, Ph.D, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics. The exhibition turned out to be very successful as it drew the attention of students and faculty members of other departments of AIUB.
