As a commitment towards producing skilled graduates and contribute to Industry 4.0 revolution, the Faculty of Engineering of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) is going to introduce B.Sc. in Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE). On 16 September 2019, a team of three members from the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh visited the American International University- Bangladesh (AIUB) to evaluate the proposed program. The evaluation was conducted by Professor Dr. Dil Afroz, Member UGC, as Summoner of the Team, Professor Dr. Ahsan Akhtar Hasin, Dept. of IPE, BUET as Subject Specialist and Mr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Senior Assistant Director, UGC as Member-Secretary.
The visiting team were heartily welcomed by the honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna and Faculty members along with other officers of the university. The evaluation activities were comprehensive and detailed which covered the essential areas on curriculum and instructions, faculty, laboratories, library and facilities. They visited newly developed state-of-the-art laboratories (including Foundry, Machine tools and Carpentry), classrooms and other facilities. Aside from ocular visits, the team reviewed the voluminous documents on the university-wide systems and procedures related to operation of the proposed B.Sc. in IPE program. The Team’s evaluation activities were the assisted by the Faculty of Engineering headed by Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Associate Dean (Faculty of Engineering) along with other faculty members. Professor Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean (Faculty of Engineering), Prof. M.A. Quiyum, Advisor, IPE and few other faculty members also participated in several discussions during the process. The Team finally met the key personnel of Faculty of Engineering and AIUB to present their findings and discuss areas of improvement. At this juncture, the management expressed its sincerest thanks and appreciation to the team who devoted their precious time to carry out the significant visit.
