The Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) and the Center for Research, Planning and Development (CRPD) of the American International University-Bangladesh held a tribute in honor of the late Dr. Anwarul Abedin. The programme was organized in two parts. The Programme started with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Mr. Al Mamun, a Junior Executive. The first part started with the Dr. Anwarul Abedin Lecture Series with the Former Chief Justice of Bangladesh and Head Non-party Care-taker Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Honorable Justice Latifur Rahman as the distinguished lecturer. He was briefly introduced by Barrister Al Amin Rahman, a law faculty. The Former Chief Justice expounded on the topic: Talent Development of Students. He identified the following areas as the core of students’ talent development: knowledge, character, young age, contented man, service of the people, health, youth, religion, communication skill, environment, family obligation and leadership. Each of these areas was described briefly underscoring its impact on the life of the students. It was a briefed lecture but substantive and very informative. After the lecture of the Honorable Justice, he was presented a Plaque of Appreciation and souvenir gift by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna.

The second part of the tribute commenced with the floral offerings by a representative from the faculty, a lady student representing the student body and the two brothers of the late Chairman. This was immediately followed by the eulogies delivered by personalities who are closely associated with the late Dr. Anwarul Abedin such as Prof. Dr. Tafazzal Hossain, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Mr. Ashraful Abedin, one of the two surviving brothers, and Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, the honorable Vice Chancellor of AIUB. Each expressed admiration to the kindness, dedication, honesty, vision, benevolence and other fine traits of the late Chairman. Meaningful and interesting memories were echoed which will be remembered and cherished as long as they live. To add more meaning to the tribute, Ms. Fahrima Rinku, an English Faculty delivered a recitation addressed to the late Chairman while Ms. Farheen Hassan, Head of the Management Department delivered a heartwarming poem. Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva rendered the Lord’s Prayer in solemn acappella. One and the eldest among the three children of the late Chairman, Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan, Vice President of HR, Administration and Treasurer delivered a response message by conveying his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all those who organized the touching tribute to his late father. He further emphasized the exemplary work of his father and the most desirable trait of honesty which he handed down to the family. The tribute was held in the auditorium of the university with students, faculty, officers, friends and relatives of the late Chairman in attendance. The tribute ended with a fervent prayer recited by an Imam. Mr. R.T. Moudud steered the smooth pacing of the numbers in the tribute as the Master of Ceremony.

Our beloved Chairman will alwys be remembered and his memories will linger in the hearts of his love ones and as long as the university stands a hallmark of higher education.
