With deep respect and solemn remembrance, the students, faculty members, and administrative staff of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) observed International Mother Language Day 2026 by paying tribute to the martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement. The university community gathered at the Shaheed Minar on campus on Saturday, 21 February 2026, to honor the sacrifices made for the Bangla language.

The observance began with the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, placing a wreath at the Shaheed Minar. He was followed by the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman. Later, members of AIUB student clubs, along with faculty and university officials, laid wreaths and offered flowers in solemn tribute to the martyrs.

The observance reflected the university community’s deep respect for the historic Language Movement and its continued commitment to preserving linguistic and cultural heritage.
