Tribute to the Language Martyrs

In remembrance of the sacrifices made by the language martyrs of 1952, every year on the 21st of February, Bangladesh observes its national Shaheed Day. This significant day was also designated as the World’s International Mother Language Day by UNESCO in 1999, a recognition honored by nations worldwide, including Bangladesh. Regardless of caste, creed, or religion, every Bangladeshi honors the Shaheeds by laying flowers at the Shaheed Minar.

 

Continuing this revered tradition, on Monday, February 21, 2024, the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), AIUB organizes a rally where the members of AIUB Student Clubs, alongside faculty members and officials of AIUB joins and walk towards the on-campus Shaheed Minar to pay tribute in commemoration of the International Mother Language Day. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Manzur H Khan, Proctor and Director, Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. S. Mosaddeq Ahmed, Head, Chemistry, Mr. Ziarat H Khan, Deputy Director, Student Welfare, Major (Retd.) Faiz-Ul-Bari Rajon, Deputy Director, Administrator, Ms. Shama Islam, Assistant Professor & Special Assistant, OSA, Mr. Shahariar Parvez, Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering & Special Assistant, OSA, Mr. Rakibul Alam, Mr. Rakib Aziz, Mr. Nazmul Hasn and Mr. Sumon Kumar Das were present on the occasion.
