On 26th February 2018, AIUB Office of Placement and Alumni presented a training session on “CV Writing and Interview Techniques for Engineering Students” in association with IEEE AIUB Student Branch, at American International University - Bangladesh. The training session was an initiative to enhance the students’ CV writing techniques and introduce them to different scenarios typically faced at interviews.
The training venture was inaugurated with an opening speech by honorable Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, who initiated by welcoming the participants and acknowledging the initiative that was jointly taken by AIUB Office of Placements and Alumni and IEEE AIUB Student Branch. He talked about the importance of CV writing skill for professional development. He stated that in addition to academics, extra-curricular activities and other soft skills could play a huge role in enhancing one’s Curriculum Vitae.
The speaker of the session, Ms.Farzana Raisa, Deputy Manager, Human Resources, Banglalion Communications Ltd., initiated with an introduction to the basics of Curriculum Vitae. Then she discussed the necessities and aspects of making a smart Curriculum Vitae. She talked about the criticality of some of the information in CV writing in details which include career objective, skillset, extra-curricular activity, reference, etc. Later, she introduced some of the basic aspects of interviews. She also elaborated on different types of interview techniques which include structured interview, unstructured interview, behavioral interview, etc. In addition to that, she also discussed the different types of question that employees commonly face during an interview. The speaker concluded her talk with an interactive question and answer session with the participants.
In the concluding speech, Mr. Roomee Tareque Moudud, FCMA, Director of Office of Placement and Alumni, AIUB, emphasized on how this training session gave the participants a professional overview of writing a curriculum vitae. He stated the importance of CV writing skill at one’s first stage of career development. He then acknowledged the speaker for her informative talk and appreciated the participation of the disciples of American International University – Bangladesh. Later, Mr. Roomee Tareque Moudud provided a token of gratitude to Ms. Farzana Raisa, on behalf of IEEE AIUB Student Branch to which the venture was concluded. Around 100 participants from different departments under Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science and Information Technology took part in this venture.
