THIRD PRIZE IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR AIUB ARCHITECTURE GRADUATE

A two member team of Architecture graduates comprising of Mehnaz Chowdhury (from American International University – Bangladesh) and Sumaiya Mehjabeen (from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology) has won the third prize in 4th Earth Architecture Competition by Nka Foundation, 2016.  The First prize went to a team from France and the Second prize to a team from Italy- while the Third prize was awarded to the entry of this team from Bangladesh.

The theme of the competition was “DESIGNING A SCHOOL FOR GHANA” and the team from Bangladesh participated for the “CLASSROOM BLOCK”. The challenge is to design a sustainable, cost-efficient and environment friendly architecture with earth and local materials. The school will consist of classrooms, administrative offices, library, laboratories, and dorms for boarding students, cafeteria hall, teacher’s quarter and sports ground for a population of 600 students (12 to 18 years old).
