The International Alliance for Women (TIAW) is an organization whose objective is to connect women to make all the difference in the world. The TIAW global forum connects women from around the world to share perspectives and experiences, which lead to the economic empowerment of women. The theme of the 2012 global forum is “Connecting Women – Empowering Change” held last October 18-19, 2012, in the Canadian Embassy, Washington D.C., U.S. A. The forum has brought together some of the world’s most innovative, powerful and influential women. The highlight of the forum was the TIAW World of Difference Awards, which are women, and men who have truly made a difference in their part of the world. The VC was one of the 100 awardees for 2012 for creating a learning environment which has inspired greater confidence for female students and instilled in them the belief that they can build a successful career, her advocacy for women seeking higher education, championing policies for equality in both student admissions, hiring of faculty and staffs and providing opportunities for them.
