The VC attended the Executive Committee meeting and the XV Triennial conference of the International Assoicaiton of University Presidnets (IAUP) held last Sept. 30-Ocotber 2, in Vina del Mar, Chile. The conference theme was “The Role of the University in Educating the Universal Citizen”. Dr. Lamagna presented a paper which was co-authored by Prof. Shahidul Islam on “The Role of NGOs in the Secondary Education Bangladesh”. She was nominated for the second term in the Executive Committee and Treasurer-Elect of the Association. Founded in 1964 in Oxford, England, the IAUP's primary purpose is to strengthen the quality of education and enhance awareness and involvementin the worls's crucial issues. The IAUP undertakes various activities not only to encourage academic collaborations among members but especially to promote international security and peace and human resource development through education. The goal of the global leaders represented by more than 300 Presidents/Rectors/Vice Chancellors/CEOs from 70 different countries is to educate today's young people regardless of their socio-economic, status, nationality, religion and political persuasion to become a “universal citizen”. The IAUP enjoys continued consultative status under the UNESCO.
