On 6^th December,2019 at American International University-Bangladesh, the inauguration of the First ever Virtual Reality conference (VR CON) has been arranged in Bangladesh for introducing the youth to technology. The event which started from last Friday is organized by “Bangladesh Innovation Forum” at American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB). It’s a two days long conference.

Prof. Dr. Sazzad Hossain, Member,University Grant Commission (UGC) was the Chief Guest of the inauguration ceremony who said that Virtual Reality: Augmented Reality is a wonder in the digital world. The whole world is excited about this. He hopes that this kind of initiative will inspire people to know more about technology.

Mr. Abdul Hye, Project Director, Skill Development For Mobile Game & Application, Ministry of ICT, who was the Special Guest of the inauguration ceremony said, the government always welcomes new initiatives like this. He thinks this event will have positive effect on the country.

The Vice-Chancellor of American International University-Bangladesh, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, was the Program Chair of the inauguration ceremony.

There will be approximately ten technical seminars on augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and gaming in the event. Besides, there will be workshops on VR Game with Unity, VR Pipeline and Augmented Reality applications. More than 30 speakers will share their thoughts. There will be also speakers from the famous Programming Institution ‘Unity’. Moreover, there will be project display of the institutions who work with VR and AR gaming.

The founder of Bangladesh Innovation Forum, Mr. Ariful Hasan Opu said, people of Bangladesh are being introduced to the technology day by day and the usage of technology is also increasing. But still we lag in VR, AR and gaming compared to rest of the world. We are hoping that this kind of event will help overcoming this.
