The event concluded with a colorful cultural program organized and performed by JMC students. On this occasion, the department also formally welcomed its newly appointed Head, Professor Dr. Pradip Kumar Panday.

The program commenced with a brief introductory speech by Mr. Niaz Majumdar, Senior Faculty Member of the department, who provided an overview of the department and its academic programs. Professor Dr. AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan, Advisor of the JMC Department, then welcomed the newly appointed Head and greeted the freshers.

A formal farewell segment followed, where outgoing students were recognized on stage alongside faculty members and commemorated through a group photograph. The newly admitted students were then warmly received and officially welcomed into the JMC family.

In his address, Professor Dr. AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan highlighted the university’s academic excellence, including one of the country’s largest and most advanced animation laboratories, and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to quality education and innovation. The Honorable Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), Professor Dr. Tazul Islam, commended the creativity and dedication of JMC students, noting that the department continues to nurture exceptional talent.

Concluding the formal session, the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, delivered an inspiring speech, appreciating the department’s achievements and encouraging students to pursue excellence and integrity in their future endeavors.

The vote of thanks was delivered by the newly appointed Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Pradip Kumar Panday. He expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests, faculty members, and students for their presence and support. In his remarks, he formally announced the department’s transition from Media and Mass Communication (MMC) to Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC), marking a significant academic milestone and reflecting a renewed vision for the future.

The program also featured a showcase of creative works, including journalism and animation projects that demonstrated the skill, dedication, and imagination of JMC students. Faculty member Ms. Rani Ellen V. Ramos shared insights into the development of a new animation laboratory, highlighting its advanced facilities and enhanced opportunities for practical learning.
