Students of Architecture Department from Photography course successfully conducted a study tour to Sreemangal, Sylhet on 10th July, 2019. A group of 29 students with 04 faculty members of AIUB departed from the Permanent campus at Kuril at 8:00 pm and reached Novem Eco Resort, Sreemangal at around 6:00 am.

Upon the arrival at the resort premise, the group got refreshed and started for Lawachara National Park to recognize the nature and landscape, its natural beauty and the activities of locals. All these become a subject for their photography assignments. Site visit and Hands on training are two integral parts of Architecture curriculum. From the outing they learnt different types of mechanism which will help on how to capture natural light for documentation. In addition this study trip is hoped to help these students from photography studios to appreciate beauty of both built and from context, and to enhance their capability to document through photographing.

Lawachara National park is a major national park and nature reserve in Bangladesh. The forest is a popular destination for nature lovers and scientists, a wide range of forest birds are present from Oriental Pied Hornbill and Kalij Pheasant down to six species of flower pecker – Bangladesh’s smallest birds. The micro-climate of tall forest trees, cool clean air, and lush green seems a world away from the rest of Bangladesh.

On 12th July, 2019 the group came back to Dhaka safe and sound. The tour came to an end with a good collection of photographs and memories. It was a successful tour for the both the students and faculty members. The entire tour was organized and coordinated by the course teachers Associate Prof. Ashik Mannan Vaskor and Lecturer Md. Rashed Hasan.
