Study Trip for architecture students to Court de la ACME, Kallyanpur, Dhaka
A study trip was held on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Court de la ACME, Kallyanpur, Dhaka for the architecture students at AIUB under the course ME 3121, Building Services II (Mechanical Equipments for Buildings) by Sayedul Islam (P.Eng). Court de la ACME Building is one of the modern commercial buildings in Dhaka city. The students were allowed to look into the detail arrangements of the installed utility services such as central air conditioning, fire protection system etc. from a close proximity and were able to get idea about the systems. The students took photographs and made schematic diagrams of the installed systems and also investigated and studied the appropriateness of allocation and selection of location space required for accommodation of various plants, equipment, accessories and support services for the systems and methods of installation of equipment, accessories and other facilities. They analyzed the various aspects of the systems and were able to develop the concept on space requirement and keeping provisions for incorporation of similar types of systems in a buildings during design or development of layout plans in order to avoid a great deal of inconveniences at later stage or during construction phage. It is expected that the students will apply the ideas/ knowledge acquired from this trip to their studio works and thus will be able to enhance their skill and aptitude for application in professional life. | ||||||||||||
