Study tour to BARD, Comilla by the students of Research Methodology

A study tour to Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD), Kotbari, Comilla was arranged by the Dept. of Operations Management of American International University-Bangladesh on 20 March, 2014. The tour was organized for the students of Research Methodology (BBA), Sections: A & G. The course teacher Dr. Tamanna Islam, Assistant Professor of the Dept. of Operations Management arranged the tour. Mr. Zobair Shibli, Head of the Dept. of Operations Management and Ms. Sadia Rahman, Lecturer, Dept. of Operations Management provided their continuous support for the arrangement of the trip. Ms. Sadia Rahman, Lecturer, Dept. of Operations Management, Mr. Mohammad Rajib Uddin, Lecturer, Dept. of Operations Management and Kazi Rashedul Hasan, Sr. Lecturer, Dept. of Finance accompanied 60 enthusiastic students in the tour.

On arrival at the BARD, teachers and students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Abul Kalam Azad, Joint Director of BARD and Fouzia Nasreen Sultana, Assistant Direct (Research) of BARD. An orientation programme of BARD under the title “Introduction to BARD Activities”, followed by lunch was organized by the authority of BARD. In this session Mr. Abul Kalam Azad and Fouzia Nasreen Sultana made a video presentation on behalf of the organization. The students were demonstrated about BARD’s socio-economic research, Women’s Education, Income and Nutrition Improvement (WEINI), Developing a Regular Local Level Poverty Monitoring System (LLPMS) in Bangladesh. They were introduced with various training courses organizing by BARD. After the presentation an open discussion session took place. At the end of the session, Dr. Tamanna Islam delivered a vote of thanks and handed over the gift hampers to the presenters on behalf of AIUB. Faculty members and students visited Nilachol Hill (BARD), Shalbon Bihar (Maynamati), Maynamati war cemetery (Comilla Cantonment) as well.

The Department of Operations Management extended their profound thanks to the official and staff of BARD for their co-operation and AIUB management for providing the administrative support to organize this successful tour.
