The Department of Operations Management arranged a study tour to Anlima Textile Limited at Savar on 9th July 2015. The Study Tour aimed to observe the production operations in the textile and garment sector as a relevant and enrichment activity of the business activities. It is a vital part of the regular student development program of the department of Operations Management. On arrival, students were greeted and briefed by the management of Anlima Textile Limited who helped them to observe very closely the production operation process, supply chain, inventory control, quality control and assurance, and other aspects of the process.
The students also got a first hand idea about how a raw material turns into its desired product. The raw materials of Anlima are yarn and fabrics that are collected from local area and European countries. There are three departments such as knitting, dying and garment. They make cloth from raw materials in the knitting department and brush the fabrics in the dying department. Finally, it sends the cloths to the garment factory for cutting, sewing and finishing. In the finishing section, they complete the products for supplying to the local and foreign markets. It was a good learning experience for the major course students of Operations Management Department to see the practical applications of Operations Research.
The Department of Operations Management is expressed thanks and gratitude to the management of Anlima Textile Limited for their all-out cooperation. We thank Engr. Md. Rakib Hassan and Engr. Md. Harunur Rashid for making this tour possible. The Department of Operations Management is also giving thanks to the management of the University for providing full support and cooperation for the study tour. The education trip was under the guidance of the faculties of Dept. of Operations Management Dr. Mossa.
