Study Tour of Tourism and Hospitality Management Department

The student of “Tourism and Hospitality Management Department” of American International University- Bangladesh has enjoyed and experienced an interesting three-day long study tour and destination to “Arunima Countryside & Golf Resort, Joynagar, Naragati, Kalia Narail”. The purpose of the tour was to get to know the tourism destination management and culture of our village through real life experience. Arunima is a boutique resort situated in the remote village of Panipara, near the confluence of river Modhumoti & Nobogonga. This is the only Agro-Eco-Sports tourism Resort of Bangladesh. Arunima guarantees a complete health recharge from its pollution free air and by the fresh foods from its own farms. Arunima is the only resort of Bangladesh with a GOLF COURSE. Students participated in outdoor games like, Golf, Long-tennis and cricket and some indoor games like Carom and Chess. On the other side, they even got an opportunity to play our local games like Dariabandha, & our national game Kabadi. Other activities in the place were fishing using ‘polo’ or by bare hand in the fish park and boating on the lake. Bird lovers can watch out the migratory birds in a tranquil sanctuary for the birds and that was an excellent experience for them. Students of the department enjoyed two nights with diffrent experience which are the first time in their lives. In one evening, students were roaming around the village on Paddle vane under the moonlight and another evening they were dancing and singing traditional folk song with local Baul singer. On the 2nd day of the tour, there was a 3-hour long course schedule of Destination Planning and Development which is called “Eye of the Details”. In this activity, students visited each and every side of the resort which is around 75 acres. As a result of this tour, students will give a presentation on Destination Planning and Development. There was a seminar on Destination Planning and Development which was coordinated by Mr. Md. Golam Mostofa, faculty of THM department. The Key speaker was Mr. Irfan Ahmed, Managing Director of Arunima Countryside & Golf Resort. He presented an overview of the resort business to the students. It was a good learning experience for the students to observe destination planning in actual situation. The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management extends its profound thanks to the management of the Arunima Resort for their all-out cooperation. The Department of THM is also expressing its utmost thanks to the management of the University for providing full support and cooperation for the successful and productive study tour.
