On Thursday, June 18, 2026, the Department of EEE, Faculty of Engineering (FE), AIUB, in collaboration with the IEEE AIUB Student Branch, successfully organized a Field Trip at Manikganj 162 MW Power Plant, located in Singair Upazila, Manikganj District. The study tour aimed to enhance practical understanding and knowledge exchange in the field of power generation, management and sustainable energy systems and focused on the application of engineering principles in power generation, system integration, and control mechanisms that ensure efficient operation and reliability of largescale power plants.

The program began with an inauguration session conducted by Mr. Abdullah Al Saiful, Senior DGM, Manikganj 162 MW Power Plant. During this session the participants were introduced to the operation and functions of the power plant including generators, power plant systems, substation systems and its role in efficient power generation and energy management, which set the stage for an enriching day ahead. The session enhanced the learning with an interactive Q&A. Participants enthusiastically engaged in discussions covering power generation capacity, future expansion of the plant and project implementation. Mr. Yousif Ali Khan, AGM, Electrical dept. Head and Mr. Shehabur Rahman, Operation Manager, led a comprehensive technical briefing and guided tour throughout the facility that included the HFO fuel processing units. After that field trip was conducted where generators, control systems, Power Transformers, switch gears and grid integration systems and switching yard were visited and explained. At the end of the visit a token of appreciation was given to Mr. Saiful and officials from the power plant to honor their valuable contributions towards the AIUB student community.

The event started at 9:00 AM and concluded at 5:30 PM (GMT +6). A total of 35 selected participants, mostly IEEE Student members, attended the study tour, along with honourable faculty members Dr. Gour Chand Mazumder, Assistant Professor, FE and Counselor, IEEE AIUB SB, AIUB and Mr. Mohammad Ashiqur Noor, Lecturer, FE, AIUB.
