Students of Department of Law have participated at International Environmental Law Moot Court Competition held at Eastern University

An observer team consisting of three students of Department of Law participated at International Moot Court Competition held at Eastern University. This competition was jointly organized by Strategy for Environmental Development Foundation and Eastern University in collaboration with Eastern University Moot Court Society. This moot court competition took place from 12 to 14 July, 2018. This was part of a student development initiative for law students, undertaken by Sk. Md. Habibullah, Faculty Member, Department of Law, AIUB. 

At this competition, teams from twenty universities participated and there were two observer teams including the team of AIUB. In this era of technological development, the environment is getting less importance. This competition was arranged to create awareness among the law students regarding environment. The International Law of the sea was also focused in this competition. The students learnt about the court room procedures of moot court competition. They saw and understood how they have to prepare for future competitions. They also gained a profound knowledge about Environmental Law and Law of the Sea. Mr. Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Mr. Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury were the judges of the Final Round of the Moot Court Competition. University of Chittagong was the champion and Jahangirnagar University was the runners up of this competition. 

This competition will help the students of department of law as participants in future. The expected outcome of the competition is to build knowledge on laws and practices of issues related to Environment. The students will be able to share the importance of saving environment as well as the national and international laws regarding environment to the community. In this way, they will have long lasting impact on the community.
