Solar energy in Bangladesh: Prospects & Challenges & Research Methodology
As a part of recently initiated project “The Green Rule”, Engineering Students’ Association of Bangladesh (ESAB) organized a seminar titled as “Solar energy in Bangladesh: Prospects & Challenges & Research Methodology” on November 26, 2014 at AIUB, EEE Seminar Room-266. In the 21st century the most discussed topic is “Global warming”. To fight and reduce the effects of global warming each person can play an important role. To spread this motto ESAB initiated the six month long project “The Green Rule”. To inspire the people ESAB organized its first seminar under this project on solar energy. The main motive of the seminar was to explore the causes of environmental pollution by different carbon compounds and find probable engineering solutions. Main field of interest regarding the solutions is to emphasize on green energy. The seminar started with the national anthem. Afterwards, a brief promo video was shown focusing on ESAB’s mission, vision and activities.
At the starting of the seminar, chief guest, Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) gave a greeting speech and addressed the further future aspects of solar energy in Bangladesh and the challenges that the young generation is going to face. After that the keynote speaker, Dr. Md. Atiqur Rahman Ahad ( Associate Professor, Dept. of Applied Physics Electronics and Communication Engineering, University of Dhaka) discussed about the technological prospects, demand and the needs of renewable energy sources in Bangladesh through a multimedia presentation. He emphasized on competitive research in this field of study and encouraged the students to dream big and be competitive. Later on he talked about the research methodology in this field of study and gave valuable advices to the students. At the end of the seminar, Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan (Associate Professor & Head, Undergraduate Program, Department of EEE) gave an ending speech and handed-over souvenirs to the key speaker Dr. Md. Atiqur Rahman Ahad as a symbol of appreciation. Among other guests, Mr. Chowdhury Akram Hossain (Assistant Professor, Department of EEE & Special Assistant, OSA), Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan (Assistant Professor, Department of EEE & Special Assistant, OSA), Mr. M.S Muhit (Assistant Professor, Department of EEE), Mr. Adnan Mohammad (Lecturer, Department of EEE), Mr. Subrata Biswas (Lecturer, Department of EEE) were also present at the seminar.
Around 90 students from EEE dept. along with the ESAB-AIUB Unit Face executives and other organizing and working members took part in the seminar. Md Arif Raihan Maahi (General Secretary and Founder, ESAB) delivered a speech regarding the mentioned project and also thanked everyone for attending. The entire seminar was hosted by ESAB Unit Face Members: Nawshin Islam Nishi and Kazi Aniqa Nawar.
