Signing Ceremony on the Investment Climate Fund Project

AIUB is one of the 5 private universities selected by IFC to participate in the Investment Climate Fund Project after a rigid selection process conducted by the Economic Research Group. The participation of AIUB together with the 4 other universities: IUB, East West, North South and Brac  was formalized in a signing ceremony of the Cooperation Agreement held on 16 June 2009 at Westin Hotel, Gulshan Ave, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The signing ceremony was presided over by Mr. James Crittle, Head of the BIFC and Mr. Pierre Guislain, Director, IC Dept., World Bank. All the 5 universities were represented by either the VC or ProVCs with Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dean FBA and FASS, representing the VC of AIUB. They all composed also the panelist together with the UGC member, Dr. Atful Hye Shibly. Each representative delivered a brief message on the stand of the organization/university on the issue of investment climate and the role of the university in promoting investment climate in the curriculum. Dr. Charles delivered a message on behalf of the VC, see attachment for the full text, which highlights among others the competence of the university to undertake the project. After the panel delivered their respective messages, a brief question and answer followed. Immediately after, the signing took place with the full of optimism that the project can contribute to the enhancement of the investment climate in the country.
