Short Term Training Course at TICI

The short term training course arranged for EEE students who have completed their academic curriculum, at TICI has been successfully completed. The course started at 24th September, 2011. 25 students took part in the course. This is the second time the students of AIUB participated in the course. This is the first time the course was arranged by IEEE AIUB Student Branch. The course covers topics ranging from Electrical Instrumentation, Process Control, PLC, DCS, to Protection and Safety. Four faculty members from EEE department Prof. Dr. Bashudeb Chandra Ghosh, Mr. Md. Nasir Uddin (Asst. Prof.), Mr. Mahmoodul Islam and Mr. Chowdhury Akram Hossain joined the students for their first day of the course which comprised of a general meeting familiarizing students with the facility followed by lab visits and course demonstrations. The course lasted three weeks ending at October 13th. IEEE AIUB Student Branch is really grateful to Mr. Engr. Torun, Head of Electrical Dept, TICI and AIUB authority for their enormous support. TICI at a glance- TICI (Training Institute for Chemical Industries) is a government training facility located at Polash, Narsingdi, a project of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation. The facility covers over 17 acres of land with 7 acres of functional area. There are a total of 108 full time staff including 48 highly experienced instructors. The facility is capable of housing up to 300 trainees, with a total of 36 labs and shops specially equipped for Operation and Process Technology, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer and Information Technology and Industrial Safety comprising a total of 7 technical departments.
