“Seminar on VLSI in Bangladesh- State and Future” organized by Engineering Students Association of Bangladesh (ESAB) AIUB Unit Face

Engineering Students Association of Bangladesh (ESAB) AIUB Unit Face has successfully organized a seminar on Very-large-scale integration (VLSI), titled as “Seminar on VLSI in Bangladesh- State and Future”, at annex 7, AIUB Campus, on October 4th, 2018. The program was inaugurated by expressing gratitude towards our national anthem. Afterwards, a brief promo video of ESAB was shown to the audience to give a demonstration on the association Engineering Students Association of Bangladesh (ESAB).

The opening remarks were given by Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain (Professor & Dean Faculty of Engineering, American International University-Bangladesh, AIUB). He briefly discussed about the history of electronic industry development in our country. He encouraged the students to work on different fields e.g., VLSI, embedded systems and digital signal processing and also to develop the skills for their chosen fields. He advised the students to prepare themselves for the industries. One of the guest speakers of this seminar, Mr. Saleh Omar (Senior Design Engineer, Neural Semiconductor LTD, DBL Group), briefly discussed about VLSI- applications, the current state of VLSI in Bangladesh and also the career opportunities in this field. He described both analog and digital chip designing process step by step and explained each stage elaborately. After that, another speaker Mr. Md. Nazimuddowla (Design Engineer, Neural Semiconductor LTD, DBL Group & Alumni, Department of EEE, AIUB) presented the overall flow of the work in a VLSI industry. He discussed about the Genus tool and the Quantus tool step by step. Then, he explained the steps of Floorplan and placement of pins and cells. He also shared his own journey from graduation to job sector. He talked about the state-of-the art resources and software as well as provided some ideas about final year projects. Afterwards, the main speaker of this seminar, Md Shakhwat Hossain (Chief Operation Officer, Neural Semiconductor LTD, DBL Group) advised the students to adapt to the technological changes and to strengthen their basic knowledge. He shared the overview of the industrial field and spoke about the necessary development at the academic field.

Later, Mr. Saleh Omar and Mr. Md Nazimuddowla answered a few questions that the students had regarding internship and career. The closing remarks were given by Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan (Professor and Head, Department of Electrical Electronic Engineering, American International University-Bangladesh). He told the students to develop their skills. He also said that dedication and concentration is important for any field. As a token of appreciation Dr. Abdul Mannan gave bouquets, gifts and certificates to Md Shakhwat Hossain , Mr. Saleh Omar and Mr. Md Nazimuddowla. Dr. M. Tanseer Ali (Senior Assistant Professor, Department of EEE & CoE), Mr. Farhadur Arifin (Associate Professor, Department of EEE & CoE), Mr. Tawsif Ibne Alam (Assistant Professor, Department of EEE & CoE) enlightened the event with their presence.
