On 4^th July 2023, the IEEE MTT-S AIUB Student Branch Chapter, in collaboration with the IEEE AIUB Student Branch, hosted a seminar titled ‘Terahertz and Novel Antenna Techniques for Next Generation 6G Technologies’. The seminar began at 4:00 pm with more than 50 attendees and concluded at 6:00 pm. The seminar aimed to provide an overview on the possibilities of terahertz frequencies to bring the next generation wireless communication technologies.

Prof. Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch inaugurated the program. He provided a concise overview of various topics, including the wireless band, electromagnetic spectrum, smart grid, 6G, applications of wireless systems and antennas (WSA), and the prospects and advancements in the ICT sector. After the inauguration, Alumnus of Department of EEE, AIUB Dr. Nasim Al Islam, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Kyungpook National University, South Korea took the floor. He began by introducing the audience to the concept of the 6G network. He explained the timeline for allocating the 6G spectrum, forecasted the deployment and expansion of the network, and discussed the challenges associated with operating in high frequency ranges. In addition, he gave an overview of metamaterials, discussing the various types of metamaterials and emphasizing their benefits and fabrication methods. Furthermore, he discussed the performance of nanoantenna-integrated MOS diodes. Before concluding his session, he highlighted the role of funding agencies and acknowledged the contributions of his co-workers in his device fabrication project. He closed the session by emphasizing the abundant opportunities in the field of communication and the application of processes in South Korea, sharing his own personal experience. 

Following the keynote session, Advisor of IEEE AIUB Student Branch, Dr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Director, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB presented a token of appreciation to the honorable speaker, followed by a closing speech. In his speech, he expressed his admiration for the speaker's dedication to his work and research, while also encouraging the participants to pursue research in this field.
