Seminar on "Sundarban and tourism: prospects and problems"

AIUB’s HTM department has organized a seminar on the subject: ‘Sundarban and tourism: prospects and problems’ that took place on the 17th of February at 2:30 pm in our Auditorium. Our guest speaker was Dr Monirul H Khan, Associate Professor of Zoology, Jahangirnagar University. He is a wildlife biologist engaged in teaching and research in the field of conservation and monitoring of wildlife habitats in Bangladesh.

Our guest speaker has delivered a very interesting and informative lecture about ecotourism, traveling to Sundarbans and its main attractions. The main issue raised and discussed was the carelessness of some travelers while traveling in such environmentally sensitive areas such as Sundarbans. Important remarks were made about the measures that can be taken to avoid negative impacts of tourism on natural sites such as training of nature guide and raising awareness among the visitors.
At the end of his presentation, the students interacted with the speaker with questions enthusiastically responded by the speaker. The Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Charles Villanueva opened the seminar and presented a Certificate of Appreciation and University Tokens to the guest speaker with Mr Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury, Director for the MBA Program.
