IEEE AIUB Student Branch recently organized a seminar entitled “Road to Higher Education”. The key speakers were Mr. Sayedus Salehin, Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering (KTH-Sweden and UPC-Spain) proceeded by Mr. Shuddho Chowdhury, Graduate Research Assistant (University of Idaho, USA). The speakers mainly discussed the procedures, opportunities and situations available to students applying for higher studies to universities abroad. Countries convenient for higher education were discussed in details by region which were – North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. They gave a clear planning concept with step by step references for getting admitted and pursuing higher degrees like Masters and PhD. Some of the most essential topics that were discussed in the seminar were regarding the admission process. This covered everything from when and where to apply, scopes for scholarship, preparation for exams like IELTS/TOEFL and GRE which are essential to the admission process, organizing papers, publications and documents, coordination with the professors of various institutions, and many more. The speakers also shared their personal experiences with very enthusiastic listeners which gave the audience a very practical conception. Both the speakers conducted the seminar in an interesting manner while maintaining a friendly atmosphere for the students. The event was graced by the presence of faculty members from EEE department– Mr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Asst. Prof. Faculty of Engg. & Special Asst. of OSA, Mr. Md. Mamunur Rashid, Lecturer, Faculty of Engg., Mr. Subrata Biswas, Lecturer, Faculty of Engg., Mr. Raja Rashidul Hasan, Lecturer, Faculty of Engg.
