Seminar on ‘Renewable Energy Scenario in Bangladesh & Activities of Grameen Shakti’
A seminar ‘Renewable Energy Scenario in Bangladesh & Activities of Grameen Shakti’, organized by IEEE AIUB student branch, was held on 30th November 2014 in order to inspire and regenerate a desire to work in the massive field of renewable energy.
Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering initiated the seminar with his kind words of appreciation for organizing such a beneficial program. Md. Asaduzzaman Shoeb, Assisstant Professor, Faculty of Engineering conducted the seminar by introducing the topic and the guest speaker Md.Mahmodul Hasan, Manager of Grammen Shakti. The speaker then presented the introductory speech with visual representation about the journey of Grammen Shakti, a company by Nobel Laureate Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus established at 1996 which is now the largest and smartest rural based renewable energies companies in the world .He discussed the need of solar home system which they are providing in remote rural areas which has 50% less fuel cost, great saving in biomass, less pollution and ability to charge cellular phones and so on. He also emphasized the need of renewable energy and encouraged students to work in this field. The interactive question answer session at the end made everyone more apparent as well as content about the seminar.
Mr. Rinku Basak, Head, Graduate Program, Faculty of Engineering discussed the main features of renewable energy and the importance of learning it in this recent world. Later the speaker was given a small symbol of gratitude as a remembrance for his precious time and participation.
