On 28th January 2018, IEEE AIUB Student Branch in association with IEEE Industrial Application Society AIUB Student Branch Chapter successfully organized a seminar on “Recent trends and developments in Renewable Energy & Smart Grids” at American International University Bangladesh. The seminar focused on the current technical aspects of Renewable energy and smart energy grids which were very beneficial for enthusiasts looking to pursue a career in Renewable Energy and Smart Grids.
The venture was inaugurated by honorable Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, who talked about the necessity of Renewable Energy for a sustainable future and it’s on growing demands. He also mentioned about the current developments of renewable energy in Bangladesh which could lead to an increase in opportunities for enthusiasts in the power development sector of Bangladesh.
The speaker of the seminar, Dr. GM Shafiullah, Lecturer, University of Murdoch, Australia, took the stage and initiated his presentation by discussing current trends of renewable energy in the world. He also stated about the cutting-edge technologies associated with renewable energy and smart grids. Then he talked about how developed nations are investing on researches based on renewable energy to enhance the sustainability of the future. He also stated about Australia’s booming renewable energy programs which generate enough to power an estimation of 70% households. Later he discussed the career opportunities in the field of renewable energy and smart grids. The session was concluded with an interactive question and answer session.
For the concluding speech, Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain thanked the speaker for the very informative session and urged the participants to show more zeal and help in developing the renewable energy sector of Bangladesh. Later, Dr. GM Shafiullah was provided with tokens of appreciation by Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain on behalf of IEEE AIUB Student Branch.
