Seminar on Linguistics and Literature

Seminar on Linguistics and Literature

As part of the English department's faculty-presentation program (where faculty members present their research works for the students and the colleagues), a seminar titled Linguistics and Literature: Points of Convergence by Mohammad Khan Firoz was held in the seminar room of campus 7 at 11 a.m. on 29 September, 2013. Highly intellectually intriguing and interactive, the seminar outlined how modern English poetry plays around different linguistic aspects of English language. Mr. Firoz, a highly acclaimed faculty in the department for his mastery over both linguistics and literature, discussed stylistics, and complex deviations of language with their linguistic analysis. He cited from works of Thomas Hardy, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Dylan Thomas and many more. The faculty members of the Department of English, along with the Head of the department, Dr. Faheem H. Shahed, the Dean of the faculty of Arts and Social Science, Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, and the students of English department enjoyed the seminar.
