Seminar on Karate as Self-Defense

The Office of Sports has organized a Seminar on Karate as Self-Defense which was held on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 2pm-3:30 pm at the Auditorium of Campus 1. The guest speakers at the seminar were Mr. Ehsanur Rahman Ehsan (Black Belt holder) who is a National Coach of Bangladesh Karate Federation and Mr. Baharul Haque Shamir, Executive Committee Member, Bangladesh Karate Federation and President of Mirpur Karate Do Academy. The Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Charles Villanueva gave an inspirational welcome speech in which he highlighted the importance of Karate as a sport and also a self-defense mechanism. Mr. Ehsanur Rahman provided valuable information for students regarding training and practice facilities for Karate and Fencing at the Mirpur Indoor Stadium in Dhaka while Mr. Baharul Haque Shamir emphasized on the need for learning Karate and how students can enroll in Karate training program in Mipur Karate Do Academy which provides training in Mirpur Indoor stadium. Mr. A.K. Nazmul, Assistant Professor, FBA and Coordinator, Office of Sports delivered the vote of thanks and moderated the question-answer session with students and the guest speakers. A large number of interested students, faculty members and officers were present at the program. Later as a token of appreciation, Dr. Charles Villanueva and Mr. A.K. Nazmul presented AIUB souvenirs to the guest speakers.
